<h4>Assessment</h4>
<p>Successful completion of this course requires successful completion of: All core units, 3 Core Skills &#8211; Reading, 3 Core Skills &#8211; Writing, 2 Core Skills &#8211; Numeracy and Mathematics and Special interest Electives. Where a course is not completed, a Statement of Attainment will be issued for any completed units/modules.</p>
<h4>Requirements</h4>
<p>Selection of participants for General Education for Adults courses (21770VIC-21774VIC) would normally be based on their need to develop literacy, numeracy and general education skills. An interview with the Education Coordinator is required.</p>
<h4>Course dates</h4>
<p><strong>Next course is due to start in May.</strong> This course can be over:</p>
<ul>
<li>4 days a week, 5 hours a day for 16 weeks or</li>
<li>3 days a week, 5 hours a day for 20 weeks</li>
</ul>
<p>Note: Delivery could be modified to suit students&#8217; needs. Course minimum student number is 6. Start dates can be postponed. Students will be advised by Education Coordinator.</p>
<h4>Price:</h4>

<li>$280 per term for international students</li>
<li>$100 per term for Australian residents</li>
<li>$50 for residents with concession card</li>

			<content:encoded><![CDATA[<p>This course is aimed at anyone who is looking to gain experience as an English Language Tutor. The course focuses on the following items:</p>

<li>The importance of volunteer work</li>
<li>The role of a volunteer in class</li>
<li>Communications with the teacher</li>
<li>Helping learners assisting the teacher</li>
<li>Rights and obligations</li>
</ul>
<div>This is a 20 hr workshop where 6 hours are instruction and sharing with other volunteers in a classroom set for candidates to be aware and understand their role in an ESL classroom. There are also 6 hours of individual practical placements (2 placements of 3 hours) in two different levels in order to determine which group you would like to work with. In the placements, 30 minutes of the class you will be with the students with no presence from the teacher.</div>

<div>Subsequently, there will be feedback sessionss, observations and planning of free activities for our students at the centre. All these activities and ideas will be proposed in-line with the education coordinator and implemented over school holidays when there are co classes available to students in a term-by-term basis.</div>

<div>This course is aimed at teachers who would like to explore into ESL teaching, people interested in a career change that involves teaching adults, graduates looking for work experience and ex-ESL teachers or individuals who are interested in giving back to the community.</div>

<div>Cost: This course is free; however eligible candidates will be asked to agree and provide classroom assistance at ESNLC for two academic terms and attend and comply with requirements.</div>
<p>This course is offered once every term or as per centre needs. Confirm with ESNLC when the next session will take place. Next session is starting in July.</p>
