Meditation classes Tuesdays, 7.30-8.30 p.m. NO CLASS ON 3rd April, 10th April, 8th May.
Classes will be on Thursdays, not Tuesdays, from 10th May to 21st June
Studies have shown that during meditation, the body attains a state of profound rest, with a decrease in heart rate and chemicals in the body which cause stress. At the same time, the brain and mind become more alert, indicating a state of restful alertness. After meditation, reactions are faster, creativity greater, and comprehension broader. Many doctors now recommend meditation to their patients. Meditation is simple to learn and will help you to achieve a feeling of peace, harmony and contentment.
Classes are held at Elwood St Kilda Neighbourhood Learning Centre each Tuesday night 7.30pm-8.30pm. If you would like to join in, please text Keren on 0409 706727 on the Tuesday Please bring something to lie on, a blanket to cover yourself with and water. Classes are $15\session, HCC concession $10. It is essential that you arrive on time so that you do not interrupt the meditation once it has commenced. The meditation sessions guided, are suitable for beginners and more experienced meditators and include breathing and relaxation techniques. Over the course of the term, different meditation techniques will be used in order to give participants the experience of the many different types of meditation available. As not all techniques suit everyone, participants will then be able to find a meditation style that suits them to use at home.
